Newspaper Carrier’s Response to Coyote

Share

Recently, our Times newspaper carrier, while making his early-morning deliveries, spotted a coyote along the side of the local streets with a cat (our pet) firmly locked in its jaws. The deliverer frightened the coyote by blasting his auto horn, making the coyote drop the animal. The news carrier stopped and then took the critically injured cat to the Irvine Animal Shelter, where extraordinary efforts were taken to save its life. Subsequently, the animal was transferred to the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter, where that dedicated staff spent an entire week treating the animal and restoring it to health. “Frosty” is now home and continues to recover at a remarkable rate.

The humane concern on the part of the newspaper carrier combined with the fine care at two of Orange County’s animal shelters is testament to people caring about people--and animals.
