Machine Tool Orders Fall in May: Orders for American-made machine tools fell 15.4% in May, hitting their lowest monthly total for the year. The Assn. for Manufacturing Technology reported that orders for machine tools fell to $205.3 million, compared to $242.6 million in April, marking the third consecutive monthly decline. Foreign orders recorded the sharpest drop, down 37.4% to $17.3 million. Domestic orders fell 12.5%.
