Family Flair’s $361.80 Victory Sets a Hollywood Park Payoff Record

A Hollywood Park record $2 win payoff was set Thursday when a 179-1 longshot, Family Flair, won the third race and paid $361.80.

The mutuel on Family Flair, who won by 1 3/4 lengths in the 1 1/16-mile claiming race for 3-year-old fillies, broke a record that had stood since June 5, 1956, when Liberal Art paid $322.10.

In the $30,000 feature race, favored Splendid Treasure took the lead from Cinderella Ball about 50 yards from the wire and held on for a nose victory .

The 3-year-old California-bred filly, ridden by Gary Stevens covered the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:17 1/5 and returned $4.60, $2.80 and $2.20 to her backers in the crowd of 13,858.

Cinderella Ball, ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye, paid $3.60 and $2.60. Onyx, with Ray Sibille up, paid $3.40 to show.
