Bringdal Holds Big Boardsailing Lead

SAN FRANCISCO —
Defending champion Anders Bringdal of Sweden won all four races on the first day of closed-course competition in the $45,000 O’Neill boardsailing championships.
Bringdal, who won each race by a wide margin, held a big lead over four-time world champion Robby Naish of Hawaii and Nevin Sayre of the United States, who were tied for second.
Britt Dunkerbeck of Spain led the women’s competition.
The competition was held in 20-knot winds near the San Francisco Marina.
