San Diego
A man who had been walking with a companion along a railroad bridge over the San Diego River was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Sunday night, authorities said Monday.
The unidentified Latino, between 25 and 35, carried no identification, according to Deputy Coroner George Dickason.
Witnesses on the train told authorities that the two men were walking south on the tracks parallel to Pacific Highway near Old Town about 7:30 p.m. when the southbound train approached.
The two men began running but one was struck and killed instantly, according to a San Diego Fire Department spokesman.
