The belongings of John Tate, former heavyweight champion of the World Boxing Assn., were auctioned in Knoxville, Tenn., to help Tate solve financial problems. Tate, 34, won the title from Gerry Coetzee in 1979.
Tate kept the Olympic bronze medal he won in 1976, some fishing equipment, boxing memorabilia and furniture. His financial affairs are now being handled by a conservator.
