South Coast Symphony Director to Also Oversee College Orchestra

John Larry Granger, music director of the South Coast Symphony, has been appointed music director of the Pomona College Orchestra for the 1989-90 season.

He succeeds Peter Jaffe, who has accepted a one-year appointment as conductor of the Stanford University Symphony. Granger’s duties at Pomona will include conducting five pairs of orchestra concerts and teaching three courses.

Granger will continue as music director of the South Coast Symphony and the South Coast Symphony Youth Orchestra and as director of the instrumental music program at Orange County High School of the Arts in Los Alamitos.

He will also continue to conduct the South Coast Symphony. The Youth Orchestra will be conducted by Scott Speck, who holds a master’s degree in orchestra conducting from USC.
