Stu Jackson, an assistant under Rick Pitino the last two seasons, will become the new coach of the New York Knicks, according to the New York Daily News.

The News reported in its editions today that a “high-level Paramount Communications source” confirmed that Jackson will formally be named to the post on Monday to replace the departed Pitino.

Pitino was freed from his contract with the NBA team on May 30 to take the University of Kentucky coaching job. The News also said Jackson’s assistants will be former Knick Ernie Grunfeld and former NBA star Paul Silas.

Jackson finished his college career at Seattle University, where he transferred from Oregon. At 33, he would become the youngest head coach in the NBA.
