Support for Chandler Rail Route

Share

The Toluca Woods Organization was not represented at the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission meeting so ably reported on by James Quinn (June 21).

Our group supports a move that would bring an actual railroad service that would run trains along the Chandler route from Warner Center to downtown Los Angeles throughout the day. This would make use of the tracks that are in place now and which have been there before most of the people who live along Chandler were born. (Why anyone who does not like trains would move to a location of this nature is beyond comprehension.)

We wish to see the route of Metro Rail extended beyond Lankershim-Chandler to Canoga Park under Lankershim and Victory boulevards. But it will be many years before Metro Rail reaches any parts of the Valley, and the train system we support could be put in service within a matter of months, thus alleviating the transportation problems facing our own generation.
