Sailor Dies After Motorcycle Hits Truck
A sailor was killed Sunday afternoon in La Jolla after losing control of his motorcycle and hitting a parked truck, San Diego police said.
Aaron Vegter, 18, died at Scripps Memorial Hospital shortly after the incident in the 2700 block of Torrey Pines Road, said Lt. Bob Stinson.
Vegter was not wearing a helmet while driving his 1989 Yamaha, a coroner’s deputy said.
A passenger, Caesar Motta, was wearing a helmet, and sustained only minor bruises in the accident, the deputy said. Motta was treated at Scripps and released.
Police said they were unsure what caused Vegter to lose control of his motorcycle.
