Lloyd Riggins, a 19-year-old American, has become the youngest principal dancer in the Royal Danish Ballet and the first non-Danish dancer in years to reach the top rank of the Copenhagen-based company. Riggins, born in New York and reared in Florida where his mother runs a ballet company, was discovered by Danish ballet teachers at a Bournonville seminar in Michigan in 1986. During the last two years, Riggins has danced major roles in most of the Danish ballet repertory.
