L.A. Philharmonic Institute Concerts

Cellist Lynn Harrell, pianist Yefim Bronfman and violinist Philip Setzer will join members of the L.A. Philharmonic Institute orchestra in the first of six free summer concerts Friday at 8 p.m. in Schoenberg Hall Auditorium at UCLA.

The program lists chamber works by Beethoven--the String Quartet in F minor, Opus 95, and the Opus 16 Quintet for piano and winds--and Ravel--the Sonata for violin and cello. Harrell, who is artistic director of the 1989 Institute, as he was in 1988, will also be a guest, along with violist Heiichiro Ohyama in a concert with the Emerson Quartet, Monday at 8 p.m. Music by Schoenberg and Schubert will be played at this concert at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, located across the 101 Freeway from Hollywood Bowl.
