Doug Flutie has signed a one-year contract with the New England Patriots of the National Football League that reportedly will pay him at least $350,000 in base pay and could be worth more than $1 million.

If Flutie, 26, starts at least eight games this season, his salary would increase to about $900,000 and, depending on how much he plays, he could earn more than $1 million.
