L.A. Council Delays Decision on Carwash
Supporters of turning a Studio City carwash into a historical monument may have to wait until the end of the month to learn the final verdict, after the Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday extended the review period.
Two members of the Cultural Heritage Commission support designating a Unocal gas station and carwash the “Gateway to Studio City.” Three votes are needed to grant cultural monument status, however, and the issue will come before the commission on July 19, when a new member is expected to be present.
The issue was to be considered by the City Council this week. But council members decided to allow the commission to complete its review and to hear the matter no later than July 31.
