Hot . . . muggy, hazy, warm. There are no ifs, ands or buts about it, San Diegans are in for some intense July weather this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

A high-pressure system hovering over the Southwest will cause warmer daytime temperatures that are expected to reach about 100 degrees in some inland areas, said forecaster Wally Segiel. An increase in the flow of moist air from Mexico will bring more humidity.

This humidity will also bring afternoon and evening thunderstorms to the mountains and deserts, Segiel said.

The beaches will be the most comfortable, with daytime highs from 71 to 76 degrees, Segiel said. After the early morning clouds burn off, the skies will sport hazy sunshine. The surf is at 2 to 4 feet, and the ocean water temperature is 67 degrees.

Highs along the coast through Sunday will range between 75 and 85 degrees, and the humidity will be 70% to 80%, Segiel said. Overnight lows of 61 to 66 are expected.

Inland highs in the 90-to-100-degree range combined with a 50% humidity factor will make for a pretty steamy weekend, Segiel said. Overnight lows will dip to 56 to 63 degrees.

Mountain highs through Sunday will reach into the upper 80s, and afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected, Segiel said. Overnight lows will range from 54 to 62 degrees.

The deserts will be a sizzling 105 to 115 degrees during the day, and drop to 75 to 85 degrees at night.
