The World : China Jails TV Witness
A Chinese man arrested after being interviewed on ABC television about the military assault in Beijing was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The man, Xiao Bin, 42, a factory worker from Dalian, was identified and apprehended after Chinese television showed the interview. He was accused of “spreading counterrevolutionary lies.” In Sichuan province in central China, two men were executed for offenses during rioting in early June in response to the violence in Beijing. Their deaths brought to 29 the number reported executed since the crackdown.
