Motorola Inc.: The Schaumburg, Ill., electronics firm said second-quarter earnings rose 28% to $154 million from a year ago, a quarterly record, on the strength of its cellular telephone, communications and computer chip businesses. The company reported that sales increased 14% to $2.4 billion.
