Commercial Scene : Grand Opening for One Civic Plaza
One Civic Plaza, a six-story office tower that combines with the new eight-story Ibis-Carson Hotel to create the focal point of the city of Carson’s new civic center complex, will hold its grand opening on July 25.
The $25-million development of Muller Co. of Irvine, with some 40% of its space already leased, is described as “the first quality mid-rise office structure in the city of Carson” and is an integral part of a master-planned, mixed-use site to be known as Civic Plaza.
The site will include a free-standing restaurant, a convention center and retail facilities, in addition to the 224-room Ibis Hotel.
The 120,000-square-foot tower is situated across from the existing 70,000-square-foot Carson Community Center and close to Carson City Hall. Its northerly border is adjacent to the San Diego Freeway.
The project features a reflective blue-glass and white-band exterior and was designed by Gilbert Aja Associates of Irvine. The builder was Oltmans Construction Co. of Whittier.
An entry drive to the building traverses a palm-lined Civic Plaza drive and leads to a landscaped motor court with 10 38-foot palm trees.
The floor plan, with each 22,000-square-foot level providing up to 14 corner offices, can accommodate tenants requiring from 1,000 to 60,000 square feet. Other building features include on-site security guards and monitoring services, card-key access and four parking spaces per 1,000 square feet of building space.
The Seeley Co.’s Torrance and Los Angeles offices are exclusive leasing agents. Tenants include Rancho Dominguez Bank on the tower’s ground floor, U.S. Bancorp and Allied Industrial Distributors.
