Driver Charged in Truck Crash Fatality
A Canoga Park man was killed and a companion was charged in his death Saturday after their truck spun out of control and overturned in Malibu, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the pickup, Timothy J. Hedges, 27, was charged with felony drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter, said Officer Diane Lowery. Hedges was in stable condition Sunday at Westlake Community Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The name of Hedge’s 25-year-old passenger was being withheld Sunday until relatives could be notified.
CHP reports said the accident occurred at 10:45 p.m. as the truck sped down Kanan Dume Road and failed to negotiate a curve at Cavalleri Drive.
