Charges that some guards at Folsom State Prison beat prisoners while other correctional officers cheered have led to the firing of a sergeant and the disciplining of a dozen other guards. Prison spokesman Lt. Cammi Voss said the cases have been turned over to the Sacramento County district attorney to determine whether felony assault charges are warranted. According to a prison investigative file obtained by the Sacramento Bee, at least four jailers retaliated for an assault on a guard by taking four inmates, one by one, into holding cells and beating them while a dozen other officers watched last August.
