A daughter of a Newsday editor was found dead in her home Tuesday, and two men were later arrested in the slaying, police said.

The body of Lea Greene, 35, daughter of Newsday assistant managing editor Bob Greene, was found in her apartment by a neighbor shortly before 9 a.m., Suffolk County police spokesman Randy Jared said.

Thomas Lydon Jr., 21, of Rocky Point and Daniel Toal, 19, of Wading River, were charged with second-degree murder, said Bob Freudenberg, also a police spokesman. No other details were available on the arrests.

Detective Sgt. Kevin Cronin would not comment on what caused Greene’s death. He said there were no signs of a sexual assault.

The victim’s father headed two teams that won Pulitzer Prizes. In 1970, his team investigated political corruption on Long Island and in 1974 a team traced the route heroin takes from the Turkish poppy fields to Long Island.
