A body found in the Mohawk River has been identified as the last missing victim of the 1987 collapse of a bridge on the New York State Thruway, police said Tuesday.

A boater spotted the body in the river near here Saturday, a sheriff’s spokesman said. Relatives of Edward Meyer tentatively identified the body late Monday from keys, jewelry and clothing found on the remains, a state trooper said.

Meyer was one of 10 people killed when rain-swollen Schoharie Creek eroded away bridge supports and six cars and one truck fell more than 80 feet on April 5, 1987. The other bodies were recovered.
