A 28-year-old actor was killed when a speeding robbery suspect being chased by police ran a red light and broadsided his car at a Mid-City intersection.

Martin Brumer, 28, of Santa Monica, who had appeared in the television shows “CHiPs” and “Days of Our Lives,” died instantly in the crash at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington Avenue and Washington Street, Los Angeles police said.

The driver of the speeding car, Toraino Leon Young, 19, of Inglewood, fled on foot but was tackled two blocks away by officers, Detective Gil Zuniga said. Young was arrested following “a slight altercation” and booked on suspicion of murder, Zuniga said.

Police said Young was driving a new Chevrolet that he and another man, both wearing ski masks, had stolen earlier at gunpoint. The second suspect, who drove off in a second car following the robbery, was still being sought. Young suffered only a slight cut to the head in the crash, although it demolished the stolen car, police said.
