A United Airlines DC-10 made an unscheduled landing today at O’Hare International Airport after a bird was sucked into an engine and the pilot shut it down.

United Flight 23 from New York’s J.F.K. Airport to San Francisco set down without incident at 9:58 a.m., said Mort Edelstein, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration.
