The players on North Carolina State’s 1988-89 basketball team refused to talk to state investigators looking into allegations of wrongdoing at the school, the head of the inquiry said.
N.C. State Coach and Athletic Director Jim Valvano also refused to allow investigators to examine records of his company, JTV Enterprises, which investigators requested, said Samuel H. Poole, vice chairman of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors and chairman of the investigating commission.
The commission apparently sought employment records from Valvano’s firm. Valvano did talk with commission members about matters not related to JTV Enterprises, Poole said.
