Juliana Furtado of Boulder, Colo., rode to a surprising solo victory in the women’s road race at the U.S. National Cycling Championships in Park City, Utah. Furtado, 22, broke away from the field at the beginning of the third of 15 laps and won in 2 hours 17 minutes 6 seconds, earning a berth on the women’s road race team in next month’s World Cycling Championships.
