Monrovia’s Hammil Wins Speedway Main
Billy Hammil of Monrovia won the national qualifier four-lap main event in the weekly Speedway program Friday in front of 2,790.
The program was moved from Costa Mesa to Long Beach’s Veteran’s Memorial Stadium temporarily because of a scheduling conflict.
Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa was second, Phil Collins of Newport Beach third and Mike Faria of Riverside fourth in the main event.
In the consolation four-lap main, Alan Christian of Murrieta was first, Ed Castro of Ojai second, Brad Oxley of San Clemente third and Tony Bienert of Hesperia fourth.
