The Pittsburgh Pirates put first baseman Gary Redus on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Tuesday.
Redus was struck just below the left eye Monday by a 90-m.p.h. fastball thrown by Dodger reliever Tim Crews. He was released Tuesday from a Pittsburgh hospital.
The Pirates also bought the contract of infielder-outfielder Scott Little, 26, from the team’s Buffalo farm club.
