The mayor of a small town in Mexico’s Michoacan state, scene of continuing protests over alleged electoral fraud this month, was shot and killed during a quarrel, state police said. They said that Leopoldo Reyes Soto was killed in the main square of Tiquicheo, a village about 125 miles southwest of the Mexican capital. Local police officials said the crime was not politically motivated.
