12 Killed in Crash of S. Korean Copter
A commercial helicopter developed engine trouble and plunged into the sea Thursday off the South Korean coast, killing at least 12 of 20 people aboard, official news reports said.
The Korean Broadcasting System said three crew members and three passengers were rescued, but the others, mostly vacationers, were trapped in the aircraft. Two were missing.
The bodies of the 12 were recovered from the Sikorsky copter, which was towed to Ullung Island off the southeast coast, the state-run television said. The report said no foreigners were aboard.
