Newport Beach : Costa Mesa Man, 18, Dies in Motorcycle Crash

A Costa Mesa man was killed early Tuesday when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed in Newport Beach, authorities said.
Guadalupe Javier Soliz Jr., 18, was heading north on Superior Avenue, south of Ticonderoga Street, at a high rate of speed when he hit the curb and was thrown from the bike at 12:32 a.m., Newport Beach police spokesman Robert Oakley said.
Soliz, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered major head injuries and was pronounced dead at Hoag Hospital shortly after 1 p.m., Oakley said.
