The State : Woman Dies of 100 Bee Stings

Share

A swarm of bees stung a woman to death after she apparently stumbled over a hive while working in a cantaloupe patch near Five Points, Fresno County Coroner David M. Hadden said. Mary Gaxiola, 66, of Firebaugh, was stung more than 100 times. Hadden said the insects did not appear to be the aggressive “killer bees” found--and apparently eradicated--in Kern County four years ago, but some of the bees will be studied to make sure.
