At the last minute, comedian Rodney Dangerfield showed respect for striking musicians and did not appear at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Tuesday night as originally announced. Representatives of Musicians’ Local 369 said Dangerfield changed his mind and agreed not to perform at a weeklong engagement. The musicians struck when Bally’s dropped them in favor of taped music for its “Jubilee” production show. The hotel agreed to continue to use musicians to back up headliners appearing in its Celebrity Room, but the union set up pickets to protest the “Jubilee” switch.
