Minister Queried on Alleged Attack Resigns
A lesbian minister who said she was attacked by two homophobic “skinheads” resigned and left town after police confronted her with inconsistencies in her story, authorities said Friday.
Police Chief Frank Jordan said at a hastily called news conference that Lynn Griffis balked during a meeting with investigators and homosexual community leaders Thursday night.
Griffis could not explain marked differences between what she had told police and what the physical evidence indicated.
Griffis, 27, assistant pastor at the Metropolitan Community Church since last month, was placed on administrative leave and within hours had tendered her resignation.
