When the Siver Screen Turns Red: Opinions on Movie Violence : ‘Gratuitous violence in movies is doing major damage...’
Why, it’s almost as if the producers of “Lethal Weapon II” set out to make a piece of entertainment, not a documentary!
To solve this growing problem of social irresponsibility in the movie industry I propose the establishment of a new federal agency--the Ministry of Thought Control. The MTC would review all movies prior to release and weed out those that do not express the proper wisdom on such matters as South Africa, communism, atheism, abortion, drugs, sex and rock ‘n’ roll. Movies that fail to meet MTC standards would be destroyed. Only by such harsh measures will Hollywood learn that its primary function is to educate the masses.
I hereby nominate Sheila Benson to be the MTC’s first leader.
