Costa Mesa : Accidental Shooting Kills Man at Party
A man who apparently had been handling a gun at a Costa Mesa party was fatally shot after the weapon accidentally discharged late Saturday night, police said Sunday.
Mejia Rogelio, 30, of Tustin was on the patio of a home in the 2200 block of Meyer Place about 11 p.m. Saturday when the handgun went off and a bullet struck him in the chest, police said. Rogelio was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident is being investigated, Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Neil Leveratt said.
