SOUTHLAND : Mt. Washington Woman Slain
A woman was found slain in her Mt. Washington area home, the apparent victim of a burglar she surprised ransacking the house, authorities said today.
Brigita Kreismanis, 44, was found by her sister in the home in the 5300 block of Monte Vista Avenue about 8 p.m. Tuesday, Los Angeles Police Detective Sam Jacobellis said.
The sister had become concerned when she was unable to contact Kreismanis for several days, he said. Police believe the victim was confronted by one or more attackers inside her home when she returned from grocery shopping. The direct cause of death was not revealed pending an autopsy.
Detectives had not determined if anything was taken from the house.
