Surfing Event Begins Today in Laguna Niguel

The $35,000 Dive N’ Surf pro-am starts today at Salt Creek Beach Park in Laguna Niguel and continues through Sunday.

Dino Andino of San Clemente and Mike Lambresi of Oceanside are among the 192 surfers scheduled to compete for the $6,000 first-place prize and a share of $30,000 in total prize money.

The bodyboarding division has a $1,500 first-place prize and a total purse of $5,000. United States champion Mike Stewart of Hawaii is among the 40 bodyboarders who will compete.

Competition will start at 7 each morning. The finals in both events are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday.
