The Neiman-Marcus department store has decided against going ahead with plans to expand its store on Wilshire Boulevard, city staffers have said in a report on major new commercial projects expected in Beverly Hills.

But plans are under way for Barneys, a New York clothing store, to open a 100,000-square-foot emporium at the corner of Camden Drive and Wilshire Boulevard, the report said.

Saks Fifth Avenue is contemplating constructing an addition of 55,000 square feet to its existing store on Wilshire, a separate 46,000-square foot building on the east side of Bedford Drive, and a 393-space parking garage and valet-parking facility, according to the report.

And a Plaza Athenee hotel has been proposed for a site at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Linden Drive.

All three projects will require environmental impact reports and hearings to deal with planning, parking and traffic issues, city officials said. Formal applications have yet to be filed on any of the three projects.
