14 County Surfers Advance at Salt Creek

Craig Comen of Huntington Beach was among 14 Orange County surfers who advanced Friday to the fourth round of the Dive N’ Surf tour surfing event at Salt Creek Beach in Laguna Niguel.

Comen won the event in 1986. Also advancing were: Mike Cruickshank of Dana Point; Matt Archbold, Steve Ward, Dan Kennedy and Jim Pinkerton of San Clemente; Shane Stoneman of San Juan Capistrano; Matt Coleman of Laguna Niguel; Scott Farnsworth, Todd Bonnet, Steve Pugh and Scott Blake of Huntington Beach; Chris Mauro of South Laguna and Branden Faber of Laguna Beach.

The 32 qualifiers meet the 32 seeded surfers in today’s fourth round, which starts at 7 a.m. Competition continues Sunday with the finals at 2 p.m.
