Moneghetti Wins 14K Aussie Race

SYDNEY, Australia —
Australian Olympic Games marathon runner Steve Moneghetti broke away late in the race to win Sunday’s City to Surf run, Australia’s leading road race.
Moneghetti covered the 14 kilometers from downtown Sydney to Bondi Beach in 40 minutes 34 seconds. He was 46 seconds ahead of Malcolm Norwood, also of Australia.
American Ed Eyestone, 1988 U.S. Runner of the Year, was two seconds further back in third place.
