Rapper KRS-One of Boogie Down Productions--a leader of rap’s anti-gang violence and pro-black pride movements--will be the featured performer Saturday at Compton Community College Stadium in a concert kicking off Compton’s “Year of Our Youth.” To stress a theme of peace and cooperation, gang colors and identification will be banned from the event, which is being co-sponsored by the City of Compton and radio station KDAY-AM. Tickets for the 2 p.m. concert are $5, with proceeds going toward Compton youth programs. Information: (213) 637-2260.
