Filing for municipal offices in three South Bay cities, which was extended last Friday when several incumbents did not seek reelection, closed Wednesday with only one additional candidate seeking office in the Nov. 7 elections.

Engineer Robert Benz, who filed Wednesday, became the eighth hopeful in the race for three seats on the Hermosa Beach City Council.

No additional candidates filed for city treasurer in Hawthorne--only Edelma Campos will be on the ballot--or for Rolling Hills Estates City Council, where four candidates will seek two seats.

In addition to Benz, the Hermosa Beach at-large council ballot will include incumbents Etta Simpson and June Williams, as well as Kathleen Midstokke, who is city clerk, journalist Les Barry, computer executive Robert Essertier, attorney Albert Wiemans and Christina Goddard, a commercial advertising representative.

Campos, deputy treasurer in Hawthorne, is the only candidate and will succeed her boss, retiring Treasurer Howard Wohlner.

Rolling Hills Estates council candidates in the at-large election are incumbent Jacki McGuire, USC professor Ken Servis, engineer Hirsh V. Marantz and Susan Seamans, an interior designer.

Rancho Palos Verdes also has a municipal election in November, but filing was not extended beyond Friday there because both City Council incumbents are seeking reelection.
