Ringo Starr’s comeback concert tour got diverted to an Atlanta court Tuesday, where lawyers argued whether an album the ex-Beatle recorded in 1987 should be released. An attorney for Starr, who did not appear in court, claimed that the album was recorded before Starr had entered rehabilitation for alcoholism and is now an embarrassment to him. A lawyer for producer Chips Moman, who invested nearly $150,000 in the recordings, maintained that the record would be a sure-fire hit and wants to release the album to coincide with Starr’s current U.S. concert tour. A previous restraining order blocking the release of the album expires Thursday.
