Breedlove Places Third in Race Across AMerica
Bob Breedlove of Des Moines, Iowa, finished third Tuesday in the 2,908-mile Race Across AMerica, which had its finish in New York City after starting in Costa Mesa on Aug. 13.
Breedlove, who bicycled from Des Moines to Costa Mesa before the race and is now bicycling back to Des Moines, finished the race in 9 days 2 hours 4 minutes.
On Monday, Paul Solon of Tiburon, Calif., finished first in 8 days 8 hours and 45 minutes and Mike Secrest of Scottsdale, Ariz., finished second in 8 days 13 hours 30 minutes.
Peter Kosche of Delavan, Wis., finished fourth in 9 days 2 hours 13 minutes and Mike Trail of Colville, Wash., finished fifth in 9 days 5 hours 26 minutes.
Eleven competitors have yet to finish, including Susan Notorangelo, the only woman in the race.
