Fish Report : Looking for Late-Summer Change of Pace? Eastern Sierra Is a Good Bet

Share

Freshwater anglers looking for a late-summer change of pace might try the Eastern Sierra.

Fred Rowe of Sierra Bright Dot in Mammoth Lakes says the fly fishing on the San Joaquin River in the Devil’s Postpile-Red’s Meadow area is “fabulous,” but not many people are trying it.

Rick Rockel of Ken’s Sporting Goods in Bridgeport says anglers also are generally ignoring good bites of grayling on Lobdell Lake north of Bridgeport and kokanee salmon on Lower Twin Lake. The latter can be had on a spoon called Red Magic.

“They’re a lot of fun and real good eating,” Rockel said.
