Azusa Landfill Expansion Plan Risky for Water

For 27 years my family has lived in the same quiet residential area in Monterey Park. Now the Municipal Water District insists on building a maintenance facility at Garvey Reservoir (Times, Aug. 10), despite widespread protest from residents and the City Council, and the fact we’re R1 zoning.
Most frightening was their initial attempt to steam roll this project in without notifying residents.
Because truck traffic, excessive noise, paint fumes and chlorine clouds are not something I want to come home to each day after battling the freeways and smog, it’ll be over my dead body. Listen up, MWD. You’re in for a fight.
