Faulty Parachute Kills Woman on Her First Jump

FRANKLIN, Me. —
A woman making her first parachute jump was killed when her parachute failed to open, authorities said Tuesday. The body of Kirstin Ockerse, 23, of Providence, R. I., was found shortly after midnight in a wooded area, police said. She was one of three people who jumped from a plane Monday afternoon.
