Firm Menendez Led Plans Internal Probe

Share

Still reeling from the murder of its chief executive, Live Entertainment Inc. of Van Nuys announced Thursday that it has hired a New York-based law firm to conduct “an internal review” into the death of Jose Menendez.

Entertainment executive Menendez, 45, and his wife, Kitty, 44, were murdered in their Beverly Hills home Aug. 20 by two people using 12-gauge shotguns, law enforcement sources say. Some sources see the double homicide as the work of organized crime.

Beverly Hills police, who are investigating the murder, have declined to comment on the case and have announced no arrests.

An attorney for the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison said the internal inquiry was not “a murder investigation” and would not duplicate efforts of Beverly Hills police.

“We are trying to learn as much as possible about what happened,” attorney Richard Borisoff said. “We have no idea if it was an organized crime hit or it wasn’t.”
