Major Networks Will Carry President’s Speech on Drugs
The speech in which President Bush will spell out his plan for combatting the nation’s drug problem will be broadcast live today from the Oval Office at 6 p.m. on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, C-SPAN and Spanish-language station KMEX Channel 34.
The address can also be heard on radio stations KFI-AM (640), KFWB-AM (980), KNX-AM (1070) and KCRW-FM (89.9).
CNN’s coverage of the Bush Administration policy will continue until 8 p.m. with a response from the Democratic Party, analysis from CNN correspondents and a live round-table discussion featuring Los Angeles Police Chief Daryl Gates, San Jose Police Chief Joseph McNamara and Alvin Bronstein, director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s prison project in Washington.
ABC’s “Nightline” will expand to an hour at 11:30 p.m. for comment and analysis of the Bush proposal.
